The Pet Company, Inc. provides midday dog walks, as well as vacation care.  While we do have many busy times during the year (holidays, prime vacation times, etc.) that allow for a full schedule, working as a professional pet sitter isn't the type of job that can guarantee a minimum number of hours per week.  Our positions fit best for applicants who don't need to rely on the income for living expenses, but do have enough flexibility to take on a full schedule when needed.

Because of the need for consistency in care for our clients and their pets, we seek applicants who are looking for long term, part time employment.  We don't offer temporary, summer or holiday only positions.

The requirements for these two positions are as follows:

• At least 18 years of age
• Reliable transportation with valid insurance coverage
• Internet and email access at least twice a day on a daily basis
• Cell phone
• Ability to handle large dogs and multiple pet households
• Availability for holidays, vacation times and a schedule of morning, afternoon and evening rounds as requested by our clients
• Comfortable with a variety of species and breeds (reptiles, rodents, birds, spiders, and, of course, a wide variety of dogs and cats)
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Willingness to take advantage of continuing education in pet behavior and body language, training issues, senior pet health, etc. to enable us to be as responsive to our clients needs as possible
• A desire for long term, part time employment since our clients and their pets are best served by providing a familiar caregiver for their service requests
  
  Dog Walkers - availability Monday through Friday between the hours of 10 AM and 3 PM.
  
  Pet Sitters - assignment times are generally as follows:
      Morning visits between the hours of 7 AM to 9 AM
      Afternoon visits between the hours of 3 PM and 5 PM
      Evening visits between the hours of 8 PM and 10 PM
  

It is our policy and the preference of most of our clients to schedule one sitter for all visits during each client booking, to maintain consistency in care for the pets.  Many of our dog households request a total of 3 visits per day, with occasional 4 visits per day requests for special needs pets, generally following the above schedule.  Cat-only households may require only one visit per day.  Assignments can also range from just a few days to several weeks.  Those applicants with availability for all of these time periods, based upon the approximate schedule listed above, will receive priority consideration during our selection process, as well as availability during our peak seasons, which are holidays, Spring Breaks and summer vacation months.  All employees undergo background checks, training and will complete the Red Cross Pet First Aid and CPR course.
